Week of 5/14/10

 

 Language Arts  - The boys and girls have been working hard on reading and identifying details that support the main idea. They have been focusing on reading for fluency and using their strategies to problem solve unknown words. We learned about the rule for adding "es" or "ed" to words ending in "y".

 Writing The students finished their animal research papers and did a great job. They will share them next week. They have begun to learn to write How To stories and will be working on them next week also.

    Science - None at this time

   Social Studies - We are discussing American symbols and have talked about the American Flag, White House, and Liberty Bell. We will finish up next week.

 Spelling we focused on words ending in "y" and "ed"

Math - The children are completing the unit on measurement. We have had a lot of fun with it. We have measured each other and stuffed animals. We learned about the size of a cup, pint, and quart. They had some great items they found from their homework at home.
